Careers Visit
Woodlands Year 9 pupils had an opportunity recently to visit Tong Engineering in Spilsby.
The pupils received a guided tour by Jim Worley, Process Improvement Manager at Tong, who explained the process of how Computer Aided Design (CAD) is used in industry to create machinery, which is shipped all around the world.
In the board room, one of the design team took the pupils on a visual journey, demonstrating CAD and how the company uses 3D Design on the shop floor.
From the board room, pupils entered the manufacturing plant, where close up, they could see different parts of machines being created.
Not only did the pupils learn about CAD, but also employment after school through Apprenticeships.
It was also great for the pupils to see how English and Maths are used in industry and their importance.
Thanks so much to Tong and their staff for supporting our pupils to learn about career paths for them after school.
