CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
This year, Children’s Mental Health Week was held between 7th to 13th February.
Place2Be launched the first ever Children’s Mental Health Week in 2015 to shine a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. Now in its eighth year, they hope to encourage more people than ever to get involved and spread the word.
For this year’s theme Growing Together, Place2Be were encouraging children (and adults) to consider how they have grown, and how they can help others to grow. Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.
Pupils from Woodlands Academy got involved and various year groups created a two new display boards in school assigned specifically for Mental Health. The pupils all wrote little notes about what makes them happy, and they also created their own handprints in this years mental health colours, for the display!
